The story
Shilajit is a bituminous exudate — <i>Asphaltum punjabianum</i>, whole bituminous, country of origin India. Raw material is fragmented to 2–5 mm, soaked 24 hours in a Triphala decoction of Amalaki, Haritaki and Bibhitaki, dissolved at 60–80°C, then filtered through sterilised cloth at 50 µm and repeated until the filtrate runs optically clear. The clear solution is spread 0.5–1 mm thick on steel trays and dried in sunlight at 30–40°C until it thickens to resin.

Dissolve a pea-sized quantity in lukewarm water or milk and consume twice daily. Avoid cold water or milk — the resin will not dissolve uniformly.
